Depending on Your Perspective
Saturday I posted a photo
of an approaching storm with a caption ending in “y’all forgive me but I
love a good storm” and it was a very good storm… or a very bad one
depending on your perspective.
After posting that photo we journeyed to my son’s home in adjacent Van Zandt county for a fish-fry and enjoyed the show from the safety of his garage. As lightening danced and crackled over the oak trees we cracked jokes, reminisced and watched crispy fillets float to the surface in vats of boiling oil. We didn’t even mind the loss of electricity; it did not affect us — we were cooking with propane.
Little did we know only miles away lives and livelihoods were being destroyed. As we were laughing ourselves to tears, others wept in fear and sorrow.
We made our way back home [to a dark but undisturbed house] as the radio blasted warnings and tales of catastrophe; declaring several tornadoes had passed through the area(s). It turns out there were seven. Seven tornadoes.
I did not perceive the impact until power was restored several days later and I could get a visual.
It definitely causes one to reflect.
These photos were taken yesterday from [almost] the same position of the one Saturday. The same southern tree line is just above this view.
I still love a good storm but
lord my heart does break for all those suffering a loss. I would
appreciate it if you all would take a few seconds and send a positive
thought or prayer their way.

In honor of National Poetry Month for the next four days Getting Me Back (The Voices Within) will be FREE. During these four days I will post a poem I have written and a photo of me. We'll call this A Poem & A Picture by Me & of Me. Care to guess which minion is me? 😉
Getting Me Back
Tissue thin transparent bits and pieces
by the millions I gave to you…
To be received, to be tended or
to be rendered useless as you deemed fit
old inhabitants of terra firma.
Slivers of my soul….
What did you do with these pieces of me?
Where are the misplaced microscopic stars of
my spirit, where are they laid?
Did they dissolve beneath a soft autumn rain?
Or burn in the heat of a cruel summer day?
Were they consumed by the dust mites of fate?
Giving me away was easy….
Getting me back seems nearly impossible.
I saw a fleck of glitter this morning,
caught in an abandoned web of time.
I retrieved it ever so carefully, pulling away
the tiny choking strands; polishing it in the palm of my
hand till it shone bright like a
minuscule star… exploding… and
I recognized it as the twinkle I once saw
in a smiling photo of me.

The Dummy Card
And can't tell a post from a page - until now.
This is my dummy card. I use it on the rare occasion I do something dumb. Like forgetting how to use Blogger and spending an hour creating a post that should have been a page. 😞 I know, I know!
Oh well, I am a writer so I have nothing but time, right? Riiight. 😴
